9 Reasons Promotional Products are Good for Your Business

This post brought to you by Fresh Promotions

Moving beyond the business card or promotional flyer makes good business sense and is a better use of your marketing budget. Your customers are bombarded with business cards and flyers on a daily basis. They do want and need your product or service, but your brand message along with your logo and all the things you spent good marketing money on is in the recycling bin before it’s had a chance to reach your customer.

Here are 9 good reasons you should be thinking three dimensionally when it comes to promotion instead of sticking with the flat, boring flyer.

1. Promotional products increase brand recognition by presenting your name and logo on a range of exciting items.
Business cards and flyers have lost their worth. No-one notices them any more. Putting an exciting product in the hands of your customer will do more for your brand than any flyer would.

2. Add a new, physical dimension to your marketing strategy by having items that can be taken out of the office and into the world.
Instead of a business card that will forever languish on the office pin-board or the bottom of a handbag, your brand message on something like a picnic set gets your name out of the office and into the customer’s weekend, working overtime for you.

3. Take your brand into your customers’ homes with kitchen items and homewares
Go home with your customer, your brand message is now in their space in a passive and non-interrupting way. Better than telemarketing.

4. Cater for your target demographic. Fresh Promotions has products for people from all walks of life, from the boardroom to the home to the playground.
With a wide range of products you can target your customers better and also play to your brand. Is beauty your business? A branded manicure set or compact mirror will work better than a bottle opener.

5. Potential customers will want to use the products in their day-to-day lives because they are functional.
Every time the product is used, your brand is there, increasing your customer’s exposure to your brand, each and every time.

6. Add some fun to your brand with novelty items like hula hoops, yoyos and rubber ducks
If your potential customers are parents, this one is a winner. And if you are taking your business to a school or community fete, increase your exposure by handing out these fun items. Emblazoned with your logo, of course.

7. Say thanks to clients and staff or welcome new business partners with a range of speciality gift items including commemorative coins, coffee flasks and hi-tech gadgets
Thank you gifts with your logo attached are the gift that keeps on giving.

8. Wear your brand at conferences, sporting and business events with a range of t-shirts, jackets and bandana.
Be seen. “You are your brand”. This is never more true then when it comes to small business. Wear it and be your own very stylish billboard.

9. Promotional products work well in goody bags
If you have the opportunity to add something to an event goody bag, promotional products are going to stick out and work harder for you at selling your brand than the bunch of fliers that other businesses put in that same bag. The event attendee is much more likely to keep your beautifully branded coin purse and throw away all the paper flyers and business cards.

  1. I’ve been reading about this and find it absolutely fascinating! I think it is going to change all of retail, promotional, creative and other industries as we know it when they get it refined. And at the rate that technology has progressed this century, I think it will be at warp speed! So exciting!

  2. Korryn Malzard says:

I’d love to give my clients various promotional products. Love anything engraved and for special occasions I love the idea of personalised wine bottles!

  3. jerry penny says:

I would love envelope style sticky notes, with reminders to send a card daily for my Send Out Cards customers. :)

  4. I’m so full of emotions
    With so many notions
I’m stumped wtih what to choose from Fresh Promotions!

  5. Helle says:

I think I’d like a metal little red car keyring. Suits the brand and possibly would be used. Good promotional products have to be used!

  6. Bernadette says:

Would love branded packaging boxes – easily identifiable when clients receive the goods.

  7. Lorna Berry says:

I would like steal cast Platform b trains the same as our logo and a tin robot the same as http://www.tinbot.com.au both collectable and different to a lot of typical stress balls etc.

I would also bring out a new train and robot each quarter so they were collectable.

  8. Cath says:

I’ve been the receiver of many a promotional item in my life (after 10 years in the paper industry, you get to see them all) and I still love, above all else, a good promotional pen… but I mean a GOOD one! One that people ask you about, that makes you feel good using, and that you can refill over and over again – so not a cheap, disposable one. My second favourite promo item ever is my keyring – again it’s a high quality one and a beautiful shape that perfectly suited the brand. It’s still going strong 15 years later, and I look at every single day. So either of these would be on my wishlist!

  9. Paula says:

As a virtual assistant, some sort of promo stationery or everyday item, i.e. notepads, pens, so everytime they are sitting doing their admin, thinking I wish I didn’t have to do this, they would look down and be reminded that ther is help just a phone call away :-)

  10. As a copywriter, I am all about the creation of words and educating business owners about how powerful they can be for their business – providing effective marketing that holds potential clients on their website and turns browsers into buyers. The pen really is mightier than the sword!

  11. Rosie Shilo says:

I would absolutely love to be able to provide my network members with VA decals for their car windows. Have always wanted to be able to do that! Otherwise iPad covers – most Vas use an iPad when meeting clients so it would be great PR for them and for me!

  12. Yianna Paris says:

Thanks for the great post – promo items are always something we’re looking out for not only for ourselves but for our clients.

The type of promotional item I’d like for our business.. hmm. I’d love to have some custom made rubiks cubes created specifically for our business with some great art that we’ve created on them. They’re a little pricey, but such a great little gadget. If somehow they could also be used as a paperweight and pen holder with a notepad attachment, then perhaps it could be a useful desk tool that’s also a bit quirky, like our brand! I might be thinking a little small, but having something useful that’s also fun (or infuriating…) is what our aim is at the moment.

  13. I drive a new volkswagen beetle plastered with my branding, so if money were no object at all, I would give away cloned beetles with the Jotterbug Creative branding to all of my clients and suppliers! That way, Jotterbug would be seen EVERYWHERE!

  14. A great promotional products I’d love to have for my brand are protein shakers with portion dispensers so athletes can blend the turbo superfoods powder on the go without carrying a big tub around.

  15. I would like to give the pens away to my wedding couples after they have signed their marriage certificate with them, so they have a special momento of the day to keep.

  16. kristin kyle says:

I would love to win these products for my business :)

  17. I would like like really cool packaging with my logo all over it and shopping bags people could use everyday. Being an online grocery store I would want the boxes that arrive on the doorstep to be instantly recognisable and keep around the home for others to see.

  18. jen hathaway says:

I would looooooove to have JLH BOOKKEEPING branded laptops or tablets to give to my clients when they sign on with me :)
