Self Confidence for Mums

Giveaway Monday – Review of a service for mums in business

I was relatively new to the Motivating Mum site when I won the Self Confidence e-course from Reverie Consulting.  A little background on me, I am a WAHM to a 2.5 year old girl and have been working in my own business as a graphic designer since her birth.

self-confidence for mumsUp until recently I have been quite content with my workload and always “busy” in my business but starting to get an itchy feeling I wanted to step it up a notch.  I have only ever received work from word of mouth and never had to actively seek people to work with, which was due to lack of self-confidence, so when I saw the course pop up on Facebook I knew I had to jump on it.  It was definitely what I needed.

Now, the nitty gritty. This course was an eight week journey that was quite challenging, asking you to look at yourself and analyse thoughts, behaviours and how to become like the people you aspire too.  It talked about self-love, why we need to put ourselves first (which is not an easy thing to do after being conditioned to look after everyone elses needs), and to discover our passions and get back our spark! Remember that pre-baby spark when we had the world at our disposal?

Throughout the course there were different presenters specialising in different fields, but you always felt you were in good hands and I thoroughly enjoyed the different presenting styles and even looked forward to each session with anticipation.  I found the course surprisingly labour intensive – not in a bad way – encouraging me to think about myself which was challenging.

Some of the workbooks were long which meant you needed to set aside blocks of time to immerse yourself in them.  Although they take time and lots of consideration, the outcomes are worth it.  You find that the answers are inside of you and the course is the key to unlocking your doors.  At times this can be very confronting and at the same time, liberating.  You are encouraged to envision your ideal life and given the steps needed to get where you want to go.

I know that the person I was pre baby was so different to the person I was beforehand.  This course even tackles how to rethink how we dress, especially if your body shape has changed since having a baby – I know I’m not slipping back into size 10 jeans…ever again!

These little changes make such a difference to our confidence levels.  Spending time on ourselves, our needs, our soul – it was great to have some focus.  I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and will be revisiting past workbooks for further inspiration going forward.

Thanks to Kathryn for the opportunity and to Alli for making it happen!

Starting your own business is very daunting!! Where to start, how to grow, pricing, supplies…. And then you need to promote yourself and have the self belief that your work is good enough to have someone else pay for it. I need to rebuild my self, re assess who I am and know that I am good enough to achieve anything I put my mind too!! I know deep down I can, but I need to turn off the lil voice in my head that keeps questioning me! I seemed to have lost that go get em rex attitude, somewhere amongst motherhood and re-entering the work force!

I am a first time mum and aspiring blogger. I am crafty but need confidence, guidance and some help with direction so that I can post content on my blog that will help others live a happy and fulfilled life. This course sounds amazing and good luck to all the others who have entered!

I have a Mobile beauty salon and every day is a challenge to stay motivated. I also struggle a lot with second guessing myself so not only does my personal life suffer but my business also suffers.
I need to break away from my negative thoughts and grow as a person and success business woman :-)

    • Alli says:

Hi Karlee, good luck for the draw – I hope you win. But if you don’t – it sounds like occasionally chatting to a mentor might be fab for you. Ask someone in business you admire to have a coffee once a month or we have phone mentors at MM for $32 for 30 min – I promise it will help! x

I think that I hold myself back on so many levels for so many reasons!
A huge part of it is lack of Belief that I deserve the success, and then its the “what Will Everyone Think Of Me” that grabs hold of me and lets me down every time.
If only I could get out of the way and then my blogging could really take off :)

I am attempting to start my small business, but I now feel so inadequate!
How do I start? Where do I start? When do I start?
And don’t even get me started on the “knockers”! I had to use the negative experience of my daughters private school Business office staff member tell me that my business would fail! Never work! Etc so now I use that to drive me forward but I do need a little support, guidance and confidence to get lift off with my business that I am completely passionate about would be so very much appreciated right now.

    • Alli says:

Good on you Peta! You get out there and show them! And don’t forget – you’re not on your own. I am about and always happy to answer questions/point you in the right direction anytime! Cheers, Alli x
