Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Fairest of Them All……
I stare at the mirror, willing the reflection that greets me today to somehow be different from yesterday …‘If only …….. I was thinner, my arms were toned, my belly was flat and my thighs didn’t rub’, the voice in my head torments me yet again. I stand for a moment longer, a sigh escapes my lips and my shoulders slump ever so slightly, I turn and walk out into my day. There isn’t any Snow White here!
The 80/20 Rule
We’ve all heard of the 80/20 rule. The principle being, when applied to business, that 80 percent of the outcomes are attributed to 20 percent of resources or attention given to any one project or campaign. Whether you have a small business or a start-up business this principle makes sense and helps us, as business owners, to know where to spend the dollars and where to give the most attention.
So what does this have to do with being one hundred percent fabulous?
Well Here Is Where I Take a Little Poetic Licence and Put My Twist on It…
80 percent of our ability to be fabulous lies with our mindset and the language we speak to, or about ourselves. 20 percent is the effort required to look after our bodies and mind.
Being 100 percent fabulous is a state of being, not of doing!
So What Does 20 Percent Effort Look Like?
Let’s break this down even further and make it so achievable that a newbie to a healthy fit lifestyle can achieve it. What if this 20 percent effort required to be 100 percent fabulous was really only a 15/5 rule? 15 percent diet and 5 percent exercise? Focus on getting your healthy eating right, and simply add walking or being active for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week and you would start to feel better within days. Your skin would be glowing and you would have a mountain of energy. This shift will not only effect your physical wellbeing but will naturally impact the way you look at yourself in the mirror.
When you feel good, you look good and when you look good, you are 100% Fabulous!
Here are My Top 4 Tips to being 100% Fabulous
- Exercise Regularly – aim for at least 3-4 times a week. Make it enjoyable and something that fits into your schedule. If you don’t like the gym, then don’t go! You won’t stick to it and it will become a chore that you give up on quickly. Playing tag with the kids in the backyard or going for a walk is a great way to be active.
- Focus on being strong, able to rearrange furniture without assistance, instead of skinny and not only will you have gorgeous curves, you will also feel powerful, invincible and fabulous.
- Eat Well – nourish your body with whole, natural foods. Cut down or cut out the processed foods and reduce/cut out processed sugars. Instead snack on fruit and nuts and include healthy fats such as avocado, olive oil, fish and eggs.
- Meditate Daily – whether it be with affirmations or a mantra, take five minutes each morning to get your head into the right space. I find the shower the best place, as it is the only uninterrupted time that I have each day. Visualise yourself in the place where you want to be physically, in business or in life in general and let that vision fill your being. When you feed your mind positive messages you will live out a positive life and be 100 percent fabulous.
